Important information about our class!
Your child will receive a special folder to take home every day. Please take time to help your child decorate the blank sheet on the cover. You can use stickers, markers crayons, photographs, etc. Please do not let your child color over their name. Please notice there is a Keep and Return side of the folder in case you need to send in any lunch money, notes etc. Please return the folders every day.
Always check the back side of your child’s folder. This is where I will send important notices and notes that can remain at home. Please be sure to clean out folders every week. Any correspondents from home will need to be placed in this folder. I will not be able to check your child’s backpack for notes or lunch money. There is not enough time to check all backpacks every day.
In each folder there is a conduct sheet. Each day your child will receive a sticker in their folder. This indicates that we are learning to follow directions, be kind to our friends and follow the class and school rules. If your child is having a hard time in any of these areas, I will let you know.
This year kindergarten will be talking about the 7 habits of highly effective people. Each week we will focus on a habit and how you child can apply it to their lives to became leaders. I have attached the 7 habits. Please be sure to discuss them with your child each week. I will let you know what habit we are working on each week.
A birthday is very special for your child and we enjoy recognizing it. Many parents like to send in a special treat for the class on their child’s birthday. This is not required!!! Anything simple is great. Even non-food items are welcome (pencils, stickers, erasers). Watch for allergies in the class!
The children will attend library, music, PE and art or computers for 40 minutes each week. Please be sure that your child wears comfortable clothes and closed toed shoes for PE.
Wednesday: Flex Day
Friday: Art or Computers
Please do not send any toys with your child. If a toy makes it to school, I will take it away and it will not be returned till the end of the year. toys can be very distracting to lessons and cause social disputes. Thank you! The only exception is for show and tell and I will let you know ahead of time when that is!
Report cards are available on Infinite Campus at the end of each quarter. I will be sending log in information for this as the first quarter comes to an end! Please go over these with your child and praise him/her for good effort. Keep in mind that if at any point you are concerned with your child’s progress, I am available to meet and discuss ways to make your child more successful.
Attendance is very important father success of your child and can greatly affect his/her performance. We all miss your child if they are out often, so please do your best to keep your child healthy and at school. Also keep in mind if your child is running a fever, vomiting, has diarrhea, or a rash… PLEASE KEEP THEM AT HOME! Call the office if your child is absent. Please make sure you get to school on time, tardies are very distracting for the little ones and the child can miss out on very important responsibilities and routines.
If you need to change how your child is going home on a particular day and it is close to 3:00. Please call the office and ask them to let me know!
Please look for more information about our class via email. If you would prefer for a hard copy please let me know and I will send updates home in your child’s folder!
This is my second year at Pioneer and am very excited to be part of an outstanding team of teachers. I have been teaching kindergarten since 2009. I graduated from Northern Arizona University with my Bachelors Degree in Education and later went back and received my Masters Degree in early Childhood Education. My husband and I have a daughter and son and we are expecting another girl in early February.
